CONSULTING AND TRAINING
DuneFront’s continuous commitment to supporting our clients has kept us busy this quarter with our team being actively engaged in providing consulting services and training.
We completed two studies for an IOC operating in the Asia Pacific region. They were planning to execute a complex shunted OHGP, using shunted packers and other enabling technologies, and the presence of shale made the treatment design even more challenging. Using PackPro, our team of experts performed various sensitivities and provided recommendations to optimize the gravel pack treatment. This enabled the operator to understand and reduce the risk associated with the execution, improving the chances of successfully placing the pack.
We also had the opportunity to conduct PackPro training for an IOC in the Gulf of Mexico, which we tailored to their specific requirements. They learned how to better use PackPro in the design and evaluation of a their operations, helping them master gravel pack techniques.
If you have any sand control consulting or training needs, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to work with you and customize the solutions to meet your needs.
CONFERENCES
We always enjoy attending conferences to share knowledge, network and continue building relationships with our clients. Our technical team attended multiple conferences this quarter.
Ramy Hatem, our Technical Sales Engineer, attended the Oman Petroleum and Energy Show in April. This conference is the only event in Oman that serves as a key meeting point for oil and gas companies, so Ramy had the opportunity to explore market trends and network with industry peers.
In May, our Technical Sales Team Lead, Kesavan Govinathan, participated in the IPA convention and exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia. It provided a great opportunity to connect with clients and explore how services and expertise can address sand control challenges in Indonesia.

March 28, 202411:36 amkamilzajachttps://dunefront.com/news/some-event-2/Driving Solutions, Building Partnerships
As we close Q1 2024, we’re ready for the significant opportunities ahead. Read about all the exciting things we have accomplished below, which underscore DuneFront’s commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and industry leadership.
SUCESSFULL CLIENT WORKSHOP IN HOUSTON, TEXAS
DuneFront’s team, led by Philip Wassouf, Mariano Sanchez, Samyak Jain and Ray Tibbles, organized a customer event in Houston, Texas. The primary objective of this gathering was to strengthen relationships with our customers and gather valuable feedback so we can align our software roadmap with their needs.
The event was met with enthusiasm, as evidenced by the impressive turnout with 20 global engineers representing 10 operators and service companies. Their active participation and positive engagement made it a resounding success, reinforcing our commitment to delivering exceptional solutions and fostering lasting partnerships.
CONFERENCES
DuneFront actively participated and exhibited in two conferences in Q1:
SPE International Conference and Exhibition on Formation Damage Control, held in Lafayette, Louisiana. The event was attended by Mariano Sanchez, Ray Tibbles and Kesavan Govinathan. This prestigious conference focused on addressing ongoing challenges with identifying, preventing, and fixing issues related to reservoir and well management, which includes sand control. We had the pleasure of presenting two papers, which were both well received by the audience:
Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) held in Cairo, Egypt. The event was attended by Samyak Jain, Ramy Hatem and Martial Oudraogo. As the biggest oil and gas exhibition in Egypt, North Africa, and the Mediterranean, we exhibited with our own DuneFront booth to engage with both existing and new customers in the region.
Our participation in these conferences strengthened our industry presence and client relationships. Throughout the duration of the events, the DuneFront team met with experts from all around the globe, shared best practices, fostered collaboration through technical sessions and networked with peers, clients, and leaders to build long term relationships. We also showcased our expertise and commitment in the field of sand control through presentations and discussions; and engaged clients in a dedicated session to provide tailored solutions to their challenges.
CONSULTING STUDIES
During this quarter, our commitment to supporting our customers through consulting studies remained unwavering. We successfully completed five major consulting projects, ensuring timely delivery and meeting client expectations.
Two studies were conducted for an IOC operating in the Gulf of Mexico. They had significant challenges while planning to execute a Shunted Open Hole Gravel Pack with a narrow pressure window. Leveraging PackPro, our team of experts simulated various enabling technologies, considering the specific reservoir conditions. After thorough analysis, we recommended a design solution that involved the use of diverter valves in conjunction with the managed pressure system.
Two other IOCs in the Gulf of Mexico requested our support in selecting the optimum sand control design for their wells. We reviewed different sand control techniques, including standalone screen, water packing and shunt packing. As there were challenges with long intervals, narrow stability/frac limit and the presence of shales, we utilized PackPro to investigate the application of enabling technology and recommend the optimum sand control approach.
In the last study of this quarter, we collaborated with an independent operating company in California, US. The customer needed an urgent open hole gravel pack simulation since their well scheduled had moved forward. Our dedicated team rallied together and worked tirelessly to deliver the simulation within an impressively short timeline, showcasing our agility and commitment to client success.

PROJECTS: EMPOWERING OUR CLIENTS WITH OPTIMAL RESULTS
DuneFront’s reputation as trusted, independent sand control experts has led us to undertake multiple critical projects for clients across North and South America, as well as West Africa during this quarter:
We collaborated closely with an operator in North America, conducting a design verification study for a critical deepwater well in the Gulf of Mexico. The challenging narrow pressure margin conditions required that we evaluated multiple jobs designs to help determine if an MPD package was ultimately required. We used our new managed pressure gravel pack model in PackPro 6.2 and are happy to report that, based on its results, our client concluded that they did not need the MPD package and completed the well successfully with several million dollars in savings.
We performed a post-job evaluation of a gravel pack treatment and a design study for a complex treatment type for an independent operator in deepwater South America. The sand control experts were able to provide the optimal design that led to the client awarding us the evaluation of the treatment and design and evaluation for the following wells.
We performed a post-job evaluation of a complex deepwater gravel pack treatment for an independent operator in South America. Following detailed analysis by our sand control experts, we were able to identify and recommend valuable lessons learned which led to the operator awarding us the design and evaluation for subsequent wells.
In West Africa, we provided our client with a comprehensive study on sand control failures experienced in some of their wells, accompanied by recommendations for future wells. Important and insightful conclusions led to a potential remediation of the failure and lessons learnt for future jobs.
All these studies have played a pivotal role in helping our clients achieve optimal results in their fields, aligning with their required targets.
